Civil War uniform of Capt. Richard Halsted, aide to Maj. Gen. John Sedgwick, when the general was killed by a Confederate sharpshooter at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House on May 9, 1864. Halsted and another officer conveyed the general's body to its final resting place in Connecticut.
